Concept Explanation & Reference
Vim operates as a modal text editor. Unlike traditional text editors where typing immediately inputs letters into the file, Vim starts in **Normal Mode** where keystrokes act as navigation and command shortcuts.
Pressing `i` enters **Insert Mode**, allowing text entry. Pressing `<Esc>` returns to **Normal Mode**.
